The operation was underway in Paramus on the northbound side of the Parkway, near Exit 160, as of 10:30 a.m.

Traffic cameras showed bumper-to-bumper backups. It was unclear how long the project would last.

Daily Voice has reached out to the NJ Turnpike Authority for details on the project.

Last December, a new bill to repair potholes plaguing New Jersey's roadways, proposed by Senate Minority Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-25th), was approved by the Senate Transportation Committee.

Bill A205 would require the DOT provide more information in an annual report on pavement condition, and to conduct pavement lifecycle cost analysis. The report would be available to the public.
